"Fabulous Hats"
Brian Brenno
May 1 - 30, 2008

The fine art of glass blowing is taken to a whole new level of creativity with Brian Brenno's colorful hand blown glass hats.

His 2008 collection, in a variety of colors and styles, is on display at the Gottlieb Gallery. Brenno's glass hats range in size from 13" to 17" tall (on a stand), and 8" to 15" wide.

Brenno takes an everyday object that people easily relate to, and with the skill and patience of a master glass blower, transforms it into fine art. Each jewel-toned hat makes its own statement. A variety of hat styles, from fedoras, cowboy hats, to showy Easter bonnets, are Brenno's only subject matter, a surprise in a medium (glass) that traditionally produces items such as vases, bowls, and jewelry.

Brenno is a veteran glass blower seasoned by years of training and experience, including many years as a "blower" on Dale Chihuly's team at the Pilchuk School and Studio.

"Light on Roses"
June 5 – 28, 2008

A tribute to the Portland Rose Festival. The three artists, who work in oil and acrylic, present June's flower, the Rose, in the gallery's first show dedicated to a flower.

Says Gallery owner, Julie Gottlieb, "The show is more than a rose; rather, three artists take light, color and shape to create both poetry and mood. And, they each create something distinct and unique."

Opening:
Thursday, June 5
5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
